Ireland imposes entry visa requirements on South American countries and South Africa in new COVID-19 Visa Arrangements

As of midnight 27th January 2021, in addition to countries who were visa required prior to that date, passport holders of the following countries are now also required to apply for an entry visa or transit visa, as appropriate, before travelling to Ireland:
  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia (transit visa now required – this country is already subject to entry visa requirements)
  • Ecuador (transit visa now required – this country is already subject to entry visa requirements)
  • Guyana
  • Paraguay
  • Peru (transit visa now required – this country is already subject to entry visa requirements)
  • South Africa
  • Suriname (transit visa now required – this country is already subject to entry visa requirements)
  • Uruguay
This means that holders of the citizenship of these countries will require to apply for entry visas to seek entry to Ireland. This will apply irrespective of the location of these nationalities globally and is not limited to travellers whose journeys may be originating from their countries of nationality. Note that the Irish authorities have suspended visa and pre/clearance processing as a COVID 19 protective measure as of 29th January 2021. It is possible to file the on-line element of the application however processing will not complete until it is possible to file the paper application with the Irish consulate or mission.
